Why Do Students Beg for Colleges to Accept them, instead of the other way around?
At first glance the topic at hand seemed a little tedious to comment on, then I realized that the answer is quite simple. We live in a world where ‘society” as a whole makes decisions for everyone. Society says that if you go to a good school then you will get a good job. When searching for post-secondary education, post – college employment plays a big factor. To the contrary, I believe that students should always keep in mind that there would be no college if there were no students.
The students are the very livelihood of any College or University. The overall campus atmosphere should be a factor for all students, not just the post – graduation employment rate. High-tuition cost, room and board, and limited financial – aid should encourage prospective students to always search vigorously for a well-rounded Institution of Higher Learning. One should inquire about things like campus safety, student government, recreation, food service etc…Find out about resources that the student body will help sponsor that will benefit you. If one institution doesn’t meet the need of the pupil then he should search broadly for the school that deserves his attendance.
It’s inevitable that onlookers would desire the school that would yield the best financial outcome for the student. However, it is best that the student chooses somewhere that will provide the best social, academic, and post – graduation career success. Certainly people you encounter will determine things about you by the school you attend(ed). It is the students new and old that make the college or university. Colleges should always “beg” students to attend, ones that are charismatic and open – minded, to ensure the legacy of the Institution. We seem to have forgotten that colleges can only thrive off the students thirst for education.
