Learning Math and Physics

i_love_physics

Math and Physics classes are the hardest of them all. Don’t let these challenging subjects get you down. I am going to share some tips on how to learn math and physics with ease!

1. Read the textbook for key ideas, concepts, and some definitions. Most importantly, look at the formulas that they give and how they are applied. Knowing how an equation is used will help you remember it more than rote memorization.

2. Stop at each example problem and see how they are worked out. Work them out on a separate sheet of paper as you go along.

3. If an example problem is repeating a concept, try doing it on your own first and then seeing if you matched the solution that the book has. If not, go through and find your mistake and solve the problem like the textbook does.

4. Review class notes and see how the teacher worked out some problems in class.

5. Go through the textbook or a worksheet and practice as many problems as you can. Pick the easy ones first, as these are the most fundamental and will also give you a confidence boost. It’s important to have the basics down before you attempt the advanced questions.

6. Move up in difficulty until you are able to do the hardest problems that you will be expected to know. Remember that generally the test will make you apply the knowledge that you’ve learned. You may be asked to take what you know and take it a step further, so being able to do the most challenging problem is a good step in achieving this.

7. Lastly, use the resources that are available to you! If you don’t understand something, ask someone for help. You can always ask your teacher, your friends, your parents or siblings, or your tutor. Google is also a good place to look if you have any questions!

Math and physics are hard subjects. But remember that you are not alone if you are struggling. Many before you have had a difficult time, and trust me you are able to learn it. Just practice until problems become second nature. It takes time, and sometimes it may not be the most fun activity, but I promise it’s worth it!
