Recover From Missing School Due to Sick Days

SIck Days

I recently got pretty sick. My headache, congestion, and coughing kept me in bed for two days straight, and I missed a lot of classes! I dreaded the thought of making up all the work, and notes that I missed. In this blog post, I’m going to discuss the best strategies for how to recover from missing school, due to being sick.

The most important thing is to be proactive. If you feel yourself getting sick, try and communicate with one of your friends in each class. Tell them to please take good notes and ask the teacher in each class what they can get for you. This is so important so that you do not fall behind. If one of these friends can deliver these assignments to your door (without getting too close!), then you can probably do a little bit of work in your bed or on the couch each day. This will minimize the stress of returning to school.

When you do get to feeling better, make sure that you communicate clearly with each teacher of each class. Get there early so that you can talk to them about what you need to do to get caught up. Usually, teachers will extend deadlines for you if you were sick; don’t be afraid to ask! Also, don’t be afraid to ask your classmates for help on things, just be sure that you never ask for help in a way that would be considered cheating.

Lastly, when you return to school, be careful! Use hand sanitizer, get plenty of vitamins, drink lots of water, and try not to get sick again! No matter how well you recover, it’s never fun being sick, and it’s best to work your hardest to stay healthy!
