How To Get the Most Out of Your Session

girl_studying_

Elite Private Tutors exists, as our website indicates, to help you succeed academically.  We do that in a number of ways, the biggest of which is coming to tutor you at a time and place that is comfortable to you.  However, when compared with the total time needed for homework or studying, the time that we get to spend with you is pretty small.  So, how do you get the most out of the limited amount of time you get to spend with a tutor?  Here we have highlighted three easy ways to maximize the value of the time you spend with a tutor, so that you can maximize your grade once we leave.

First, prepare beforehand.  Before the tutor even walks through your door, figure out which subjects you want to focus on, and do some work in those subjects.  That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand with your work and you’ll be able to determine what you want to focus on during the session.  Also, get organized.  That way you’ll have everything you need at your fingertips during the session, and won’t waste any time trying to find important papers or files.

Now that you have prepared a little beforehand, when we arrive, have a plan for the session and let us know what it is.  Whether the entire session is focused on one subject or spread across a smattering of various subjects, having a plan for the tutor will enable us to better tailor the session to your needs and ensure that all of your questions are answered.  And, if time is too short, prioritize.  Let us know which subjects are most important to you so we can focus on them early and make sure they’re covered.  We don’t want to walk away leaving critical questions unanswered!

Finally, be ready to focus.  It sounds trivial, but makes a huge difference.  Preparing to focus can look different for different people, and can include anything from working right beforehand to “get your feet wet” with work to relaxing for a half-hour prior to your session so that your mind is fresh when we start working.

In summary, then, a little preparation before the session, communicating your goals for the session to the tutor, and being able to focus during the session will maximize the value you get out of your session. Elite Private Tutors’ greatest desire is that you succeed, and hopefully these tips will provide an extra boost toward that goal.
