3 Tips For Easy Time Management

time management

One of the biggest hurdles for students juggling multiple academic and extracurricular activities is effective time management. This skill is actually one of the hardest to master as a student, but it is also the most important. Knowing how to deal with several commitments in a constrained schedule is a skill that will be applicable throughout all of life. Here are some tips to improve your time management skills:

1. Keep an updated calendar/agenda

Here at EPT, we stress that all students have access to an organized planner in which to jot down all of the deadlines for school assignments. This can also be used to keep track of your schedule. With me, I’m a visual learner, so I like to see my schedule in a color-coded grid format, so I use Google Calendar. This time management tool is neat because it syncs up with my phone and shows me blocks of my time that are occupied so I can visualize when I will be free or busy. I can also set it to send me daily reminders about important deadlines or tasks coming up.

2. Know the limits of your schedule

Do not take up extra responsibilities that you do not have the time to undertake them. Doing so will wear your energy thin and you will give up some responsibilities across all of your commitments. Have an idea of how your schedule is like for the week so that you will be prepared to say NO when you need it.

3. Plan out times to relax or do nothing

If you don’t do this, then you may find yourself procrastinating when you need to be active. Make sure you allow yourself to rest, and if you need to, write it down as a siesta in your planner. The body needs rest otherwise it will rest when you don’t want it to.

Time management is essential in carrying out a productive and full life. Following these three tips will make managing your time much easier as you go through your week.
